In District 7, too many mothers are carrying these burdens without adequate support, resources, or safe spaces to simply breathe. This initiative ensures moms have access to what they need—connection, care, and practical help—to thrive, not just survive. When our mothers are supported, our families and entire community grow stronger. Mothers First is my commitment to making sure no mother in District 7 has to do it alone."

Our Mission
Mothers First Initiative is dedicated to uplifting black and brown mothers during the early postpartum phase, focusing on mental wellness and alleviating postpartum depression. Our programs include mommy meetups, supportive cohorts, and in-home services to ensure that every mother feels empowered and supported in her journey.
Mama Needs a Hand
Mama Needs a Hand provides in home support for pregnant and postpartum moms, offering a trained mom assistant who helps with light household tasks, companionship, and practical relief so mothers can breathe, recover, and feel supported.
Mommy Meetups
Mommy Meetups are curated gatherings designed to help moms build genuine connections, access trusted resources, and experience a warm community that understands the realities of motherhood.
Nu You Cohort
The Nu You Cohort is a guided personal growth program that helps moms strengthen their mental, emotional, financial, and relational wellness through community, coaching, and practical tools that support real-life transformation.
Mother's First Initiative Conference
The Mothers First Initiative Conference is a community centered gathering focused on improving maternal health outcomes for Black and Brown women in Prince George’s County. This conference provides education, support, and real resources that help mothers navigate pregnancy, postpartum healing, and early motherhood with confidence, connection, and care.
