WELCOME TO MOTHER'S FIRST INITATIVE

In partnership Nu Yoü Inc (Founder Gilly), Councilwoman Krystal Oriadha and Community on the Front Line ( Executive Director Parker) are dedicated to ensure this program supports as many moms as possible.
Mothers First Initiative is dedicated to uplifting black and brown mothers during the early postpartum phase, focusing on mental wellness and alleviating postpartum depression. Our programs include mommy meetups, supportive cohorts, and in-home services to ensure that every mother feels empowered and supported in her journey.

Serving 1000 moms with in home non-clinical support services with our
"Mama needs a hand service"
Mama needs a hand is a 2-Hour In-Home, Non-Clinical Support Service
This service provides two hours of compassionate, non-clinical, in-home support designed to give moms practical relief and breathing room during demanding seasons of motherhood.
Support may include:
Folding and organizing laundry
Washing and tidying dishes
Assisting with light daily household tasks
Assisting with childcare
Safe baby practices
Supporting mom and baby through presence, care, and encouragement
The goal of this service is to reduce overwhelm, ease the mental load, and allow moms the space to rest, reset, or focus on what they need most in the moment.
Eligibility: Pregnant, Birthing or adoptive mom of a child under the age of 3. Must live in District 7 Zip Codes : 20746, 20747, 20743, 20748 and 20745
This service is provided at no cost to all families who live in qualifying zip codes. Other counties may qualify for this service as a paid service.

Clinicians, Social Services and Therapists can also use the form below to refer clients.
Mommy Meetups

Every month we will host "Mommy Meetups"
A safe place for moms to connect, build community and enjoy an in person experience around wellness, education, personal growth or health.
Come build your village with us!
Events are no cost for all Prince George's County Residents.
These events are open to all moms and maternal figures. Moms with children school aged or younger will receive the most value.
You can expect Playdates, Resource Fairs, Spa experiences, Health education , Brunches, Dinners, Parenting Classes and more!
The Nu You Cohort
The Nu You Cohort is a 7 session virtual cohort designed to be an extension of support.
All Mama Needs a Hand Receipts are also eligible to join the Virtual Cohort.

Session 3 :Feeding & Nutrition
Session 4 :Stress Management & Self-Care
Session 5 :Finances & Work-Life Balance
Session 6 :Reconnecting Relationships

This model works. Nu You Inc / Nü Momish piloted a similar initiative in Baltimore in 2024, serving nearly 100 moms at no cost. Learn more about the initiative here.
